Keep Your Cool: Our New Zimmer Cryo 7 Cooling System
Any mention of laser hair removal is usually immediately followed by “Ouch!” “I’ve heard that is super painful!” or “Doesn’t that hurt?” and the formidable “Will I get a burn?” Typically, though, when someone brings up these types of concerns, they’re picturing an older generation of laser hair removal and so much has changed since then!
Imagine comparing a Nokia flip phone to current smartphone technology-things have improved massively in the last few decades. Similarly, since its inception decades ago, major improvements in laser technology have allowed for much safer, more effective, and more comfortable laser hair removal treatments. With our brand new, state of the art Cryo 7 Zimmer cooling, we have the ability to provide you with the smooth skin you crave, without the pain commonly associated with hair removal.
We know that you can find more than one medspa in Portland that offers “pain-free” laser hair removal, but when deciding on a hair removal facility, it is important to consider which kind of cooling system they use to reduce pain. Often, we simply focus on the words “pain-free,” but, in terms of safety, it’s actually very important to understand the type of cooling being used. Pain-free is great, but when you combine the gold standard laser hair removal results from the Candela GentleMax Pro, with the top of the line cooling provided by the Zimmer Cryo 7, being administered by the best Certified Advanced Aesthetiucians in Portland, you’ve got a recipe for success!
To provide some context, an older device, or perhaps a less effective and more burn-prone IPL device, typically uses an ultrasound gel system, usually kept room temperature, to provide cooling relief during the treatment. This system is less comfortable, inconsistent, messy and results in a significant decrease in energy efficiency. This cooling method, which clocks in at around 60.8 degrees, translates to poorer results for the patient and apples to apples, it’s a significantly inferior cooling method overall.
At the beginning of 2024, Luxe Laser decided to further upgrade our already awesome cooling arrangement to include a Cryo 7 Zimmer cooling system, which also is known as a cryogen or cryogenic air system. This modern marvel provides a consistent stream of cold air, around -22° to -30°, to cool and protect the skin during your laser hair removal treatment. Keep in mind, that not all cryogenic cooling systems are built the same. The type of cooling system, as well as the quality and efficiency, vary greatly between manufacturers, which is why we’ve chosen the Zimmer Cryo 7 cooling system-it’s simply the best.
Some of the older, lower-grade cooling systems tend to do an inefficient job of cooling the treatment area. Their less effective cooling method provides a slight distraction from the pain rather than actually cooling the tissue, and unfortunately this poor-quality cooling can lead to a burn or blister. These uncomfortable and unsightly burns or blisters can then lead to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or PIH, and who has time for that?
Older, dated systems also can be very imprecise and clumsy, leading to a larger probability of user error. These antiquated cooling systems also are not built into the laser handpiece itself, making it difficult to operate with finesse and precision, again, leading to burns and blisters as the esthetician struggles to simultaneously cool while treating.
At Luxe Laser where your comfort and safety are always our top priority, we use either the patented Dynamic Cooling Device or the newest evolution of cryo hair removal – the Zimmer Cryo 7 cooling system. You may have heard about the Zimmer Cryo 6, but this Cryo 7 is an even more efficient and impressive Zimmer chiller. Either the Zimmer Cryo 7 or the Dynamic Cooling Device will be in use when providing laser hair removal with our Candela GentleMax Pro lasers, and the cooling elements are built right into the handpiece for safety and comfort.
While fabulous results are crucial, your safety and comfort are always our highest priorities and Zimmer Cryo 7 cooling is ideal for a client looking for a sybnchronistic solution for body hair and the discomfort associated with hair removal. When it comes to comfort – colder is better! So, chill out and relax while we take you on a comfortable laser hair removal journey that results in silky smooth skin wherever you have stubble. Cool!
