As we wave goodbye to the summer sun and welcome falling leaves and Portland rain clouds, we know that the last thing on your mind is next bikini season. However, autumn is actually the ideal time to begin your laser hair removal process to get rid of unwanted body hair. Here’s why:
Laser Hair Removal Is a Multi-Month Process
At Luxe Laser, our specialty is laser hair removal. We believe wholeheartedly that your results and experience do far more for our business than any billboard. Your results are our best advertisement!
When we talk about the “best results” possible, we’re not speaking purely about our Candela GentleMax Pro lasers or capable and talented staff-we’re also referring to technique, which includes treatment timeline and pacing. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to hair removal. Laser hair removal works best during the active growth phase, called anagen. We space treatments apart within the appropriate timeline for hairs to enter this phase, when the laser can effectively target follicles and reduce future hair growth.
Only some hairs (about 10-15%) are in the active growth phase at any given time. Scheduling treatments too close together gives fewer hairs time to enter this phase, which can make each session less effective.
With your best results in mind, services are paced at 4/6/8-week timelines, and we increase the time between treatments as we progress in our services. As you continue with laser hair removal, you’ll notice the treated hair takes longer to return, and it’s important that we adjust treatment timelines to compensate for that slowing down in growth.
Considering that there may be one, two, or more months between services, you’ll want to get started sooner rather than later to ensure that the results you’ve been dreaming of are ready to go come summer 2027! Your confidence is our pride and ultimate goal.
Sun Exposure Must Be Limited
We’re not only passionate about your results, but we are also committed to providing a safe experience during the time that you’re under our care. Nobody wants a burn or blister, and exposure to the sun before or after a laser hair removal or other light-based treatment can lead to these unfortunate side effects, as the skin in the treatment areas is more sensitive and vulnerable to damage around the time of treatment.
Many of the clients at our medpsa in Portland wait until spring or summer to begin their laser hair removal services-out of sight, out of mind! However, unless you want to shut down your summer sun exposure entirely, this can be inconvenient or even hazardous.
