Spring Into Brighter Skin With A Chemical Peel
It’s Springtime – the cherry blossoms are blooming, the trees are budding, and it’s the perfect time for a little spring cleaning – for your face! At Luxe Laser, we’ve updated our chemical peel offerings to better suit our clients’ needs.
We have new and improved peel formulations, as well as a focused peel menu, allowing us to create a more precise facial treatment strategy. We also now can target specific skin concerns with solutions that were not previously available in our lineup. Out with the old chemical peel menu, and in with the new!
Our updated peel menu consists of five peel options, which cover the breadth of the most common skin concerns we see at our medspa in Portland.
The “No Peel” Peel
Enjoy a gentle exfoliation experience with little to no visible peeling or downtime. This universal professional peel is formulated with a blend of exfoliating acids and soothing ingredients to encourage healthy cell turnover and support collagen production, helping to minimize early signs of aging while calming the skin after treatment.
Suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types, including sensitive skin, this effective peel also helps strengthen the skin barrier and promote recovery. This peel works wonderfully on clients with rosacea.
The Acne Peel Plus
This peel helps improve the appearance of active acne-prone skin and helps decrease the likelihood of congested pores in the future. Powered by salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol as well as a next-generation retinoid to combat active breakouts, this peel helps prevent future breakouts and targets congested pores at their source. This innovative blend is balanced by soothing antioxidants that help calm the skin and improve visible redness and uneven tone.
The Pigment Correct Peel
The Pigment Correct Peel is a breakthrough solution designed to address all types of visible hyperpigmentation across all Fitzpatrick types. Formulated with Multi-Acid Synergistic Technology (MAST), it corrects and prevents visible hyperpigmentation, including sun damage, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) when used in combination with daily SPF. This is a fantastic option for clients struggling with unwanted pigmentation, especially for clients with higher natural melanin levels who may not be good candidates for laser services, such as a laser facial.
The Sensi Peel
Sensi Peel is a clinically proven blend of resurfacing acids designed to penetrate the skin, remove dead skin cells, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and other common concerns. While this peel is highly effective, it remains gentle enough for clients with heightened sensitivity to topical ingredients. A carefully selected mix of antioxidants further helps soothe and support the skin throughout the peeling process. This magic combination allows for both the exfoliation and cell turnover boost needed for your desired end goal, while taking care of our more sensitive clients.
4% Pure Retinol Peel
For skin in need of rejuvenation, this retinoid peel smooths, brightens, and evens skin tone through increased cell turnover and peeling. This is our strongest peel and a client favorite. This cosmetic procedure is formulated with 4% retinol, and this is converted to retinoic acid in the skin (vitamin A). This retinoic acid helps promote a clear complexion and a more even skin tone post-peeling. Marigold extract, Silybum marianum fruit extract, and vitamin E calm the skin while providing a hearty dose of antioxidant protection, which is a helpful and needed support during the chemical peel process.
Our Gentle Approach To Peels
All of our peels are considered light-depth peels or light-medium depth peels, a.k.a. “Lunchtime Peels.” This means that peeling will be milder, and you can resume life right after the service, and it only takes as long as a lunch break!
Peeling typically begins at around the 2-3 day mark. Peeling should take between 1- 4 days to conclude. We do recommend avoiding the reapplication of makeup on the day of the treatment. We also recommend applying sunscreen to protect the skin against sun exposure, and we recommend applying moisturizer at least twice a day.
While these are gentler peels, the skin is still sensitive for a few days after treatment and needs a bit of extra protection, although we typically recommend applying a good quality moisturizer to the skin daily to help hydrate and protect your facial skin.
While there are four grades or types of chemical peels (very superficial, superficial, medium, and deep chemical peels), we only offer the first two grades, which are considered light chemical peels.
A medium chemical peel and a deep chemical peel require more downtime, and it’s typically best to undergo these peels at a dermatology or plastic surgery practice. However, our “lunchtime peels” are often all you really need to address many common skin concerns and to give your face a quick glow-up. At Luxe Laser, we use premium products and peels from PCA™. These are known worldwide as safe, effective treatments that deliver beautiful results. If you’ve been looking for a PCA chemical peel, Luxe Laser provides the best chemical peel in Portland. Safe, effective, fast, and with visible results!
What is the Fitzpatrick Scale?
Above, we talked about various skin types from the Fitzpatrick Scale. This is a dermatologic system that categorizes skin based on how it responds to ultraviolet (UV) exposure. Specifically, it classifies skin types by how easily the skin burns or tans. There are six skin types, ranging from very fair skin to deeply pigmented skin, and many of the peels above are suitable for all skin types and skin colors.
